Lima syndrome:
we’ve all heard of Stockholm syndrome, although less known, there is also Lima syndrome. A síndorme that is the opposite of Stockholm. The victims in this case are the kidnappers, they begin to empathize, to understand the hostages, becoming more compassionate.
The name arose from the taking of hostages in the Japanese embassy in Lima (Peru). Fourteen members of the Tupac Amaru Revolutionary Movement (MRTA) took hundreds of hostages for several days. Including political, diplomatic and military. But over time the kidnappers were being released. The hijackers began to understand the situation of the hostages.
